A PHOTOELECTRONIC TRACKING DEVICE,

Abstract

A photoelectronic tracking device without rotating pairs, and in which a dissector tube is used as a sensitive element is proposed. In the absence of rotating mechanical elements, modulation is achieved by placing a round diaphragm in front of the dissector anode, in concentric relation to the axis of the projecting optical system and dissector. The electronic image of the tracked object can be seen moving in a circle within the plane of this diaphragm under the effect of the rotating magnetic field. The latter is produced by a stabilized source of alternating current which supplies two pairs of coils in the dissector transfer section with sinusoidal voltages of the same frequency, but 90 degrees out of phase in relation to each other. The operational principle of the proposed device and its possible designs are explained in the drawings.
