ZINC SINGLE CRYSTALS WITH HEXAGONAL GEOMETRY GROWN IN MACROSONIC FIELDS.

Abstract

Application of macrosound (25 kc; W/cm sq.) affects the growth of a cylindrical zinc single crystal whose c axis is almost perpendicular to its length axis so that its shape is changed into a uniform hexagonal geometry. This result is discussed on the basis of concepts that involve the influence of macrosound on the stability of forms of crystal faces through dislocation activation. (Author)
