SOME EFFECTS OF ATMOSPHERIC DISTURBANCES ON AN OPEN RETURN LOW SPEED WIND TUNNEL,

Abstract

This report is concerned with the influence of atmospheric disturbances on an open circuit wind tunnel, and in particular the changes in tunnel velocity caused by external wind. Both analytical and experimental studies have been performed, considering first a steady wind, and then periodic gusts. The possibility of cancelling any change in tunnel velocity by means of an automatic variable pitch propeller has been investigated. This would improve the operation of the wind tunnel in the presence of gusts or winds. (Author)
