PRESENTATION AND POLYMERIZATION OF DITHIOCARBOLIC ACID-S, S'-DIVINYLESTER(DARSTELLUNG UND POLYMERISATION VON DITHIOKOHLENSAURES,S'-DIVINYLESTER),

Abstract

S,S'-Divinyldithiocarbonate was prepared by the dehydrohalogenation of the reaction product of 1 mole of phosgene and 2 moles of ethylene sulfide. The divinyl compound was susceptible to radical polymerization. Solution polymerization in benzene yielded a soluble polymer, via an intromolecular-intermolecular reaction mechanism, with the alpha-methylenetrimethylenedithiocarbonate group as main chain unit.
