EARTH COVER AND CONTOUR EFFECTS ON IMAGE GLIDE PATHS.

Abstract

Mathematical models of the Null-Reference and Capture Effect glide paths in the presence of snow covered and irregular ground planes are presented. From these equations variations in glide-path position are determined for specific ground contours and covers. Greater Pittsburgh Airport site is considered as an example for which equations are solved using a 7090 computer. The results show that certain portions of the glide path are quite rough, and this agrees with previous flight measurements. (Author)
