APPROXIMATE EXPRESSION OF THE 3/2 LAW FOR A CONFINED CATHODE IN A HOMOGENEOUS FIELD,

Abstract

The 3/2 law of Langmuir gives an expression for the density of a current by a volumetric charge for an infinite flat cathode located in the field of an infinite flat anode. An approximation expression is given for the magnitude of current density along the beam axis in the case of a current bounded by a volumetric charge with a cathode having an infinite emission capability and located in a uniform anode field.
