ON WAVE PROPAGATION IN ISOTROPIC HOT PLASMAS,

Abstract

The electro-magneto-plasma-gas-dynamics (EMPGD) equations are summarized, based on the single fluid, continuum theory, macroscopic plasma dynamics theory. The derivation of the three dimensional wave equations for linearized, isotropic, compressible, hot plasma is reviewed. In accordance with a well used approach in the theory of elasticity, the wave equations are separated into the acoustic (longitudinal) and the electromagnetic (transverse) waves. (Author)
