WAVE PROPAGATION IN INHOMOGENEOUS ISOTROPIC HOT PLASMAS,

Abstract

The three dimensional coupled wave equations for the electromagnetic and the acoustic wave propagating in inhomogeneous, isotropic, hot plasma are derived from the linearized electro-magneto-plasma-gasdynamics (EMPGD) equations. The wave equations become uncoupled for propagation in the direction of the inhomogeneity. An asymptotic solution for this case is given with the WKBJ result as the first approximation. (Author)
