AN EMPIRICAL MASS FORMULA INVOLVING THE ELECTRON MASS,

Abstract

A search for a rest mass quantum in the order of magnitude of a few MeV is reported. The search was stimulated by the observation that the accepted value of the electromagnetic mass splitting of the pion is very consistent with 9m ( m = electron rest mass), and that the value of the proton mass is very close to an integral multiple of 9m.
