COHERENT-LIGHT RECORDING TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to summarize, define and demonstrate techniques necessary for the application of coherent light to the problems of recording and readout of analog information in excess of 10 to the 10th power bits per square inch, at frequency bandwidths of 100 megacycles per second. Investigations into such areas as the coherent light source itself, modulation, deflection or scanning techniques, readout techniques and the evaluation of recording media are reported.
