SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DECISION-MAKING IN EDUCATION.

Abstract

This paper defines the terms 'system,' 'system approach,' and 'systems analysis,' and describes a variety of systems in defense and non-defense areas. In education, the primary focus of systems analysis is on detailed description of operations, understanding the functional interactions of system components, and the flow of information for decision-making within the system. General principles involved in systems analysis are described and some outcomes of such analysis are provided. Implications of systems analysis for more effective educational decision-making are also discussed. (Author)
