INTEGRATED ARMY METEOROLOGICAL WIND-TUNNEL RESEARCH PROGRAM.

Abstract

Contents: I. Structure of turbulence: Structure over smooth and rough boundaries; structure perturbations produced by a single roughness over a smooth surface; systematic study of the effect of wall roughness on the structure of the turbulent flow over a flat plate; development of mathematical model for turbulence with planar homogeneity. II. Fundamental research on diffusion in turbulent shear flow: Instantaneous sampling equipment; measurement of concentration distribution in clouds emitted by instantaneous sources located in a turbulent boundary layer; verification of similarity criteria for turbulent diffusion by comparative studies of wind-tunnel and field diffusion data. III. Modeling of mountain lee waves in the wind tunnel and model wind structure near White Sands Missile Range meteorological tower.
