THE PHYSICS OF METASTABLE SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Research results in the following areas are briefly summarized: dissociation energy of He2(+) (2&u(+)); potential curve of the metastable helium molecule; a flowsystem and burner for observing selective excitation of spectra by metastable species in the afterglow of a helium discharge; cyclotron resonance in slightly ionized gases. A list of publications generated under the contract, and which describe the research more fully, is included.
