STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF PSEUDOTUBERCULOSIS BACTERIOPHAGE IN NATURE. COMMUNICATION I. ISOLATION OF BACTERIOPHAGE FROM THE ORGANS OF RODENTS,

Abstract

During an investigation of the organs of 998 rodents, 36 strains of bacteriophage (3.6%) were isolated that lysed pseudotuberculosis cultures. The bacteriophage was detected in the organs of gray rats (3.8%), house mice, (2.6%), voles and common shrews. The data obtained confirms the fact that the finding of bacteriophage has great importance in antiepidemic work. The bacteriophage is an indicator specifying the infectious state of a given territory in respect to the microbe causing an epizootic in rodents.
