THE VANDERMONDE MATRIX,

Abstract

A derivation for the inverse of Vandermonde's matrix is outlined, and matrices of Vandermonde-form are related to polynomial least-square fitting of data. Both sections are suitable for classroom exercises. References to the literature are presented which make a deeper study of the subject possible.
