PHOTOLYSIS OF BENZYLTRIPHENYLPHOSPHONIUM AND TETRAPHENYLPHOSPHONIUM CHLORIDE,

Abstract

It is confirmed that the UV photolysis of tetra-aryl phosphonium salts leads to the reversible formation of phosphoranyl radicals. This suggests the occurrence of one-electron transfer processes involving reduction of phosphonium cations.
