ELECTRON BEAM TECHNIQUES FOR FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY OF PARTS FOR ELECTRON TUBES.

Abstract

The reports presents the progress made on the feasibility of electron beam welding and machining of the materials and configurations evaluated, development and qualification of the two tube types with the critical joints electron beam welded, and establishment and maintenance of a pilot line electron beam facility for production of the two tube types. The technical and manufacturing problems associated with fabrication of the 6914A preproduction tubes have been optimized or resolved. The number of electron beam welded joints scheduled for incorporation in pilot line tubes is approximately double the number anticipated.
