SOLIDIFICATION OF BINARY AND TERNARY EUTECTICS,

Abstract

Experiments are reported on the aluminum-silicon binary eutectic, and the cadmium-tin-lead and zinc-tinlead ternary eutectics. The structure of the eutectic and the leading phase during growth were determined in each case. The results are explained in terms of the constitutional undercooling ahead of each phase of the eutectic. (Author)
