THE COMPUTATION OF CYLINDRICAL PLASMA RADIATION PROBLEMS.

Abstract

Machine computation of the radiation patterns of antennas in cylindrical plasma environments is considered. General characteristics of the patterns are determined and are related to domains of the cylinder function arguments that enter into the field expressions. In this way, the effects on the computed patterns of various kinds of errors in the cylinder functions for arbitrary plasma properties are established. The manner in which errors enter into computed values for cylinder functions is discussed and methods of avoiding such errors are presented. Tables of Hankel functions of complex argument are included. The expected accuracy of the values in the tables is indicated. (Author)
