DEVELOPMENT OF A SHOCK RESISTANT INDICATOR LIGHT.

Abstract

A shock-resistant 120-volt switchboard indicator light for use aboard naval vessels was developed. The light consists of a resiliently mounted fixture and a special lamp with multiple-filament supports. It is resistant to high-impact shock such as may result from battle conditions. It is applicable directly to 120-volt circuits and, with an 18-watt series resistor, to 440-volt circuits. Where space permits it can be used to replace the present 6-volt Navy standard switchboard light with a minimum of switchboard modification.
