VOLATILE COMPOUNDS AS FUNGICIDES
Abstract
The vapors of approximately 250 organic compounds were examined for fungus inhibitive properties. The procedure was a petri-dish assay, which, though scarcely comparable to actual tests under service conditions, does afford a rapid and convenient method of screening. Some of the more promising compounds were scrutinized for secondary degradative effects, vis., corrosion of metals and impairment of plastics. A number of promising compounds were disclosed, among them tricresyl phosphite and trioxy-methylene.
