1, 4 DEHYDROBENZENE: A STABLE SPECIES.

Abstract

The mass spectrum and the optical spectrum as functions of time were studied for the process and products of flashinitiated decomposition of benzenediazonium-4-carboxylate. The products of decomposition include a relatively stable C6H4 species, mass 76. The most likely assignment of the species is 1, 4-dehydrobenzene, probably in a singlet state. Two structural representations are proposed. (Author)
