PHOTOCYCLIZATION OF PROPENES TO CYCLOPROPANES: NOVEL PHENYL AND HYDROGEN MIGRATIONS IN PI,PI* SYSTEMS,

Abstract

The photocyclization is reported of five phenyl-substituted propenes to cyclopropanes, demonstrating that the reaction is reasonably general. Cyclization is clearly associated with phenyl migration in three cases and with hydrogen migration in another.
