A COSMOLOGICAL KINEMATICS WITH PECULIAR MOTIONS,

Abstract

The purpose of the discussion is to derive a line element without the assumptions of uniform mass density and the absence of peculiar motions, and then to derive the kinematical consequences of such a line element when the peculiar motions are included from the start. The results obtained in this manner, although similar in structure to those obtained from use of the Weil postulates, contain certain fundamental departures from previous thinking, and cast a certain amount of doubt on the velocityred-shift relations as currently interpreted.
