WEIGHT MINIMIZATION OF HONEYCOMB HEAT SHIELDS.

Abstract

A procedure for the design of minimum weight honeycomb structures for use as radiative heat shields is presented. Formulations are applicable to panels critical to intracell buckling and face compressive yield. Minimum weight is shown to occur at the condition where design variables produce a critical buckling stress equal to the compressive yield stress. (Author)
