METHOD OF GENERATING HIGH-VOLTAGE PULSES WITH THE USE OF THE PLASMA PINCH EFFECT,

Abstract

Object of the invention: Method of generating pulses of high tension by making use of the phenomenon of autoconstriction of a plasma column (pinch effect) which has the distinguishing feature that for the purpose of exciting on the ends of a solenoid pulses of high tension proportional to the rate of change in the magnetic flux inside the solenoid and the number of its winding turns, a gas discharge chamber is placed in a longitudinal magnetic field, along the axis of the chamber there is located an insulating tube in which there is mounted a solenoid, a magnetic field rapidly changing in time is excited through the feeding in of a high-tension pulse onto the electrodes of the gasdischarge chamber, and a change in the tension of the magnetic field is assured through the constriction of the magnetic flux connected into an annular plasma envelope which is formed with the aid of a powerful pulse discharge in the gas.
