SOME NON-NEWTONIAN EFFECTS IN FLOW THROUGH TUBES,

Abstract

Rectilinear flow of nonlinear viscoelastic fluids through straight tubes can only occur if the tube is of circular cross section or if the rheological constants satisfy certain relations. The present review gives a qualitative discussion of these results and considers the matter of the normal stress distribution on the walls of the tube. The related problem of oscillating flow is discussed briefly. (Author)
