THE RELIABILITY DEMONSTRATOR,

Abstract

A reliability demonstrator, simulating a complex system, consists of a number of disks that rotate on a common axis. Each disk bears on its circumference a 'bad' spot covering one percent of the circumference, indicating a reliability of 99 percent. This is a means of demonstrating that the overall reliability of a complex automatic system equals the product of the reliabilities of the individual components.
