METHODS FOR APPLYING MEASURED DATA TO VIBRATION AND ACOUSTIC PROBLEMS.

Abstract

This document discusses various procedures for applying measured vibration and acoustic data to the solution of practical vibration problems. Specific techniques are outlined for using reduced data to establish coherency estimates, frequency response function estimates, structural vibration predictions, and extreme value predictions. Applications to fatigue damage predictions and vibration test specifications are also reviewed. The expected errors associated with the more specific application techniques are detailed. Emphasis is placed upon the determination of appropriate error expressions in terms of sample data parameters. (Author)
