BEST LINEAR UNBIASED ESTIMATORS OF THE PARAMETERS OF THE LOGISTIC DISTRIBUTION USING ORDER STATISTICS.
Abstract
Let X sub l, n < or = x sub 2, n < or = . . . < or = x sub n, n be the n order statistics from a logistic distribution with mean m and standard deviation s, respectively. The best linear estimators of the type & a sub i, n x sub i, n and & b sub i, n x sub i, n where the & extends from r sub 1 + 1 to n-r sub 2 and where r sub 1 and r sub 2 are the missing observations in the beginning and at the end (i.e. censored case). Tables of a sub i, n and b sub i, n are given for n=2(1)25 for selected values of r sub 1 and r sub 2. The variances and covariances of these estimators are also given and relative efficiencies are evaluated. A table of the covariances of these estimators are also given and relative efficiencies are evaluated. A table of the covariances for n=11(1)25 of all order statistics is also provided. (Author)
