REACTION OF AMINO-ACIDS AND PEPTIDE BONDS WITH FORMALDEHYDE AS MEASURED BY CHANGES IN THE ULTRA-VIOLET SPECTRA,

Abstract

Molar absorptivity changes 220 millimicrons during the reactions of mono- and di-amino acids, unsubstituted amides, and N-alkyl substituted amides with formaldehyde are reported and the implications are discussed.
