HIGH-POWER ELECTRONICS: HIGHLIGHTS OF WORK BY P. L. KAPITSA.

Abstract

The basic purpose of the developments outlined in Kapitsa's work is the refinement of the magnetron theory and its application to the design of versatile superpower electron devices suitable for generation of shf oscillations and long-distance transmission of energy through waveguides and through directional beams in free space. These devices, called 'planotrons,' can also be used as superpower d-c/a-c and a-c/d-c converters, particle accelerators, frequency converters, and selective waveguide filters. (Author)
