EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF METHODS OF DETERMINING WAVE-MAKING RESISTANCE BY MEANS OF SURFACE-PROFILE MEASUREMENTS.

Abstract

Surface profiles behind a ship model are measured and the wavemaking resistance is evaluated according to the theory available at this time. The theory is corrected and refined in order to make it more compatible with actual flow conditions. The presence and importance of bilge vortices are investigated.
