DEVELOPMENT, TESTING AND APPLICATION OF ROADWAY-MARKING PAINT,

Abstract

The increasing density of traffic makes it necessary to complement customary traffic signs effectively in order to satisfy the requirements for safety and economy of street traffic. This is possible by marking of the roadway. For this purpose, there is available roadway-marking paint whose successful use depends on the quality of the products. Oriented research and development in East Germany has produced paint compositions which permit optimum utilization regardless of base surface. To increase visibility of such markings in the absence of daylight, reflecting substances were added to the paint which simultaneously increased their resistance to abrasion. The newly developed paint corresponds to international standards and satisfies the intended purpose if properly applied as indicated in this article. (Author)
