EQUILIBRIUM THEORY OF GALACTIC ISOPLETHS: A RELATIVISTIC ANALYSIS,

Abstract

A complete summary is given of analyses of problems involved in the relativisitic description of galactic structures from the standpoint of hypersurfaces of geometric equilibrium that carry jump discontinuities in the momentumenergy tensor. A reasonable theory is developed for the observed morphology of E and SO galaxies. Several tentative predictions are made concerning the diameters of E galaxies.
