A KINETIC STUDY OF THE KHARASCH REACTION

Abstract

A kinetic study was conducted of the reaction between organometallics and organic halides under cobaltous halide catalysis. Possible mechanisms of the reaction are discussed using experimental data. Rate expressions are derived from previously postulated mechanisms and compared to the experimentally derived rate expression.
