AN INVESTIGATION OF DIFFUSION OF SUPERSONIC FLOWS IN CURVED CONSTANT AREA PASSAGES.

Abstract

The experimental investigation was undertaken for the purpose of gaining an insight into the phenomena which occur in the process of diffusion of supersonic flow in curved passages of constant cross sectional area. An effort is made toward determining the magnitude of the losses associated with the recovery of kinetic energy in these passages. Results toward this end are presented in the form of static pressure distributions along the passages, total pressure surveys at the passage exit and Schlieren photographs of the flow in the passages.
