PE-14. PLASMONS IN MAGNETIC FIELD,
Abstract
A summary is presented of the results of calculations on plasmons in a magnetic field. The calculations are based on a Green's function formulation of the random phase approximation for the inverse dielectric function of an electron gas in a magnetic field. The Green's function can be obtained in closed form, and the resulting inverse dielectric function has been used to write the plasmon dispersion relation and damping constant in relatively tractable forms which are not encumbered by unwieldy summations over Landau eigenstates.
