THE FIBER STRENGTHENED ELASTIC STRING, FIRST ORDER THEORY.
Abstract
The theory of a one-dimensional directed elastic continuum is developed on the basis of a principle of virtual work. The strain energy function is restricted to lead to a theory of limited director interaction. A simplified form of the constitutive relations are used to illustrate the possibility of achieving a permanent deformation. (Author)
