INVESTIGATIONS LEADING TO THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF MAGNESIUM/MAGNESIUM PERCHLORATE BATTERIES.

Abstract

The report describes the significant accomplishments made on the research and development of magnesium/ magnesium perchlorate batteries. Data concerning voltage and temperature vs. type magnesium alloy are presented. Performance characteristics of Mg-HgO multicell batteries at low and high temperatures are discussed. Variations of electrolyte concentration and freezing point depression are discussed. Batteries for three military field applications were developed to meet the desired specifications. (Author)
