ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUNDS. IV. PHENYLTIN CLEAVAGE BY CHELATING AGENTS,

Abstract

Acetylacetone, benzoylacetone, dibenzoylmethane, salicylaldehyde, and 8-quinolinol react with diphenyltin dichloride to produce tin-phenyl cleavage products of the type Cl2Sn(Ch)2, where HCh is a bidentate, monoprotic chelating agent. Two quadridentate diprotic ligands of the type H2Ch' react with diphenyltin dichloride under similar conditions to give products of the general type Cl2SnCh'. (Author)
