TRANSMISSION LOSSES OF HYBRID SURFACE WAVES ON THE V-LINE.

Abstract

Transmission losses of the V-line, a surface wave guiding structure comprising a cylindrical dielectric binding medium of sectoral cross section supported by a wedge formed by two conducting plates, are considered. Analytic expressions for both the dielectric and conduction losses are derived for the hybrid modes and presented graphically. On the basis of these, criteria are given for minimizing the attenuation due to both losses. Included are methods to calculate intractable integrals of products of modified Bessel functions to high accuracy. (Author)
