THE VISCOSITY OF ARGON, KRYPTON, AND XENON IN THE DENSE GASEOUS REGION,
Abstract
The effect of pressure on the viscosity of argon, krypton, and xenon was established experimentally for pressures ranging up to 820 atm at 100, 150, and 200C. For xenon additional measurements were carried out at 50C. These measurements were made using an unsteady flow transpiration type capillary viscometer, whose basic dimensions were accounted for in order to operate it in an absolute manner. The residual viscosities resulting from these measurements were normalized to produce values which correlated with the corresponding reduced density to produce a single continuous function for these three monatomic gases.
