VERY LOW-FREQUENCY INFRA-RED SPECTROSCOPY.

Abstract

The project had two main objectives: (a) the design and construction of an infrared spectrometer which would operate below the region accessible to commercial instruments (i.e. below ca. 380/cm.) and (b) the application of the spectrometer to various problems of interest, and especially to inorganic molecules. Objective (a) was essentially completed by December, 1962, although considerable modifications were effected during the subsequent six months. Since that time continuous use of the instrument has been made.
