MASS TRANSFER IN THE LOW REYNOLDS NUMBER VISCOUS LAYER AROUND THE FORWARD REGION OF A HYPERSONIC VEHICLE

Abstract

The paper describes a theoretical investigation of the effect of mass transfer into the hypersonic low Reynolds number viscous layer upon the heat transfer rate and skin friction. New results have been obtained and correlated as a function of the Reynolds number. The range of applicability of the present fluid dynamic model is also discussed and comparisons are drawn with earlier work, both theoretical and experimental.
