RESEARCH ON ELECTROMAGNETICS FOR PROJECT DEFENDER
Abstract
Progress is reported on a fairly large number of projects dealing generally with electromagnetic phenomena in plasmas and plasma-like media, such as the properties of antennas, excitation of electromagnetic waves in plasmas, coupling of acoustic and electromagnetic waves, propagation through time-varying random media, electron densities in shock waves, basic kinetic theory of ionized media, instabilities in plasmas, and properties of laboratory type plasmas. A smaller group of projects deals with characteristics of transmitters and receivers for communication through randomly time-varying media and with the problem of pattern recognition.
