HITAB ATTITUDE CONTROL SYSTEM.

Abstract

An attitude control system (ACS) is included in the payload of the Hitab-Aerobee sounding rocket to provide attitude stabilization and controlled maneuverability to the vehicle. It is a ground-oriented, inertially controlled system utilizing two 2-degree-of-freedom gyroscopes to provide the inertial reference. Rate gyro damping is included for stability, while eight cold-gas reaction jets provide the control torques. The system is now manufactured and distributed by the Space General Corporation, El Monte, Calif., for use in the Aerobee 150 sounding rocket. (Author)
