A PROGRAM OF PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ARMY RECRUITS TO CONSERVE MANPOWER BY SELECTION AND SPECIAL TRAINING FOR SPECIFIC MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS. PILOT STUDY I: ESTABLISHMENT OF THE VALIDITY OF SELECTED DIAGNOSTIC TESTS OF PHYSICAL ABILITY OF ARMY RECRUITS.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether a technique could be developed which would separate those who would be successful in a given physical task or tasks from those who would not be successful. If this could be achieved, it would provide a useful, objective method for physical classification of military personnel. Better use might then be made of the manpower available for military service.
