MICROWAVE ATTENUATORS AND TERMINATIONS, A SIMPLE TECHNIQUE FOR FABRICATION IN THE LABORATORY.

Abstract

Absorbing elements for X-band waveguide attenuators and terminations can be made successfully from flexible-foam absorbing material with the use of simple tools. Any insertion loss greater than 3 dB can be produced immediately by trimming the length of the element. In addition to providing design data, techniques are described for fabricating the fixed attenuators and terminations. These techniques avoid the complex machine cuts and close tolerances required when blocks or strips of rigid microwave-absorbing material are used. (Author)
