PROGRAM ON THE DYNAMIC TESTING OF STRUCTURAL FRAMES AND ARCHES.

Abstract

A test program involving welded portal frames, with either hinged or fixed colume bases; together with two hinged arches, is described. The tests are scaled to adapt them to an atomic blast simulator. Recommendations are made as to test assembly, instrumentation, and procedure. Auxiliary equipment is described. Alternate test set-ups with or without dynamometers are designed and relative advantages and disadvantages discussed. Design calculations for the test frames and auziliary equipment are given.
